Planmeca is presenting the outcome of 50 years of dental unit evolution at IDS 2023

Press release Mar 15, 2023

With over 50 years of experience in dental equipment design and manufacturing, Planmeca is committed to ongoing development and excellent craftsmanship. The new Planmeca Pro50™ dental unit is the result of continuous enhancement and close collaboration with customers – it is the peak of evolution.

The new dental unit is a true masterpiece of sophisticated technology, individual adaptability, and dynamic ergonomics. All dental unit users are different and unique, so Planmeca Pro50 has been designed to offer its users a new level of flexibility and the freedom to create the dental unit of their dreams without compromise. A smooth workflow is always guaranteed − regardless of the treatment or field of specialty.

The cuspidor can be positioned freely on either side of the patient, and the flexible delivery arm has a wide, virtually unlimited movement range. The combination of these two allows creating space for the team and for any additional devices needed during treatment. The dental unit’s functions are symmetrical to enable full left/right conversion. Planmeca Pro50 allows all dental professionals to work on their terms, whether they work two- or four-handedly.

Planmeca Pro50 has an intuitive 7-in. user interface that can be supported with a 15-in. Planmeca ErgoTouch™ touchscreen monitor. The ergonomically positioned monitor seamlessly extends the user experience by bringing together all the elements of a daily clinical workflow – from practice management to intraoral scanning and viewing X-ray images. The monitor can also be used for patient education, and its touchscreen function provides new possibilities for updating the patient’s dental record during treatment. Both the user interface and the monitor can be used to guide the dental team.

The one-of-a-kind, vertically lifting chair of the dental unit is height-adjustable from 390 to as high as 890 mm. This allows dental professionals of all sizes to work in their preferred position while sitting or standing.

“Planmeca Pro50 has been designed to suit different users, so that every dental professional at the clinic – from assistant to dentist and dental hygienist, from left-handed to right-handed user, from the shortest to the tallest user – can use the same unit in the most efficient way, whether they work two- or four-handedly. We want to help dental clinics save time by making all transitions and work steps fast and smooth – patient access to and from the chair, infection control between patients, switching from right- to left-handed use, just to name a few. Fast transitions will allow clinics to welcome more patients and concentrate on patient care,” says Tuomas Jurvanen, Vice President for Planmeca's dental care units.
