Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanner now accepted by the WIN System

Press release Jan 30, 2018

Planmeca is pleased to announce that the Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanner is now accepted for use with the WIN System.

Lingual orthodontics is the correction of misaligned teeth by using a fixed brace, bonded on the inner surface of the teeth. WIN lingual braces work in the same way as conventional fixed braces, with full control and movement of the teeth, but they are invisible from the outside.

The Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanner has now been accepted by the WIN System. This means that after scanning the upper and lower arches in occlusion, WIN certified doctors can instantly send the data to WIN e.g. via the secure Planmeca Romexis® Cloud service.

“We are thrilled that the users of our brand new intraoral scanner can now benefit from this integration and enjoy a smooth orthodontic workflow. The extremely lightweight and fast Planmeca Emerald™ offers exceptional patient comfort, and so do the WIN lingual braces with their flat design that is perfectly adapted to the tooth shape. So it’s a great match”, says Jukka Kanerva, Vice President for Planmeca’s dental care units and CAD/CAM division.

“On the basis of Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scans, we can fabricate excellent WIN appliances thanks to the high precision of the data acquisition. In our opinion, the dimensional stability of the 3D scans is equal to a perfect silicon impression”, says Dirk Wiechmann, Managing Director of DW Lingual Systems.
