General

New quick view tool for all image types

Romexis now includes a new QuickView feature in the File module, which allows viewing 2D and 3D images as well as intraoral scans at once in a new, all-in-one view. This provides a fast overview of all selected patient images, reducing the need to switch between modules.

The quick view feature includes tools to zoom in and out in the images, adjust brightness and contrast, and reset the view. CBCT images can also be viewed in MPR views with options to adjust slice thickness and maximisation. Multiple 3D images can also be viewed side by side.

From QuickView, each image can be easily opened into the preferred module for further evaluation, analysis, and treatment planning.

Extended Auto Import functionality

The Auto Import functionality of the Patient module has been extended to support PDFs, 2D and 3D DICOM images, STL and PLY files in addition to 2D photos, which makes it even more easy and quick to import patient data from third-party devices to Romexis. The feature can be useful for users who have a third-party intraoral scanner and want to use these scans in Romexis for treatment planning.

3D imaging module

Viewing 2D intraoral images with 3D images

It is now possible to view 2D intraoral radiographs directly in the 3D imaging module. This way, users can assess intraoral and 3D images of the tooth of interest simultaneously when intraoral radiographs are available, supporting more efficient and comprehensive diagnostics.

To open intraoral images in the 3D module, the Tooth Navigation chart now includes a dedicated button for opening intraoral X-rays of the selected tooth in the right-hand toolbar.

Improved Smart Implant tool

The AI-powered Smart Implant tool is now even more powerful, supporting a wider range of cases. Automatic implant planning is now possible also for cases where a tooth is still present and for cases with multiple adjacent missing teeth, with the number of implants limited to four adjacent teeth.

Smart Implant tool now allows users to select a sleeve in addition to the implant product line. The scaling of generic crowns has also been improved to enable better fit when adding the crowns into the plan.

More intuitive implant properties and size editing

A new Implant properties dialog has been integrated into the right-hand toolbar of the module. The dialog remains visible whenever an implant is selected and it can be used either as a floating window or
expanded within the toolbar.

With the dialog, implant size adjustments are quick and intuitive as users can easily modify the diameter and length using the up and down arrows.

The dialog also displays the tooth number of the currently selected implant. Navigation arrows next to the tooth number allow users to move smoothly between implants in the treatment plan.

Sleeves and abutments linked to the implant are also shown in the dialog.

CMF surgery module

The Romexis® CMF Surgery module now features new user-friendly icons for left-right, up-down, and anterior-posterior movement directions. In addition, pitch, yaw and roll rotations have been updated with new icons.

9Release653.png

The direction columns of the point movement information in the analysis table have also been updated with clear direction icons. In addition, point movement directions are now expressed using words (Left or Right, (Ant) Anterior or (Post) Posterior, and Up or Down) instead of plus and minus signs.

CAD/CAM module

The new software release introduces several enhancements and updates to the Romexis® CAD/CAM module. Most notably, the module now supports the Planmeca Onyx™ intraoral scanner, with Romexis serving as its scanning software.

11Release653.png

More information about the Planmeca Onyx intraoral scanner will be shared soon in a separate Planmeca Now newsletter.

Improved scanning performance

With the introduction of Planmeca Onyx support, the scanning engine of Romexis CAD/CAM module has been updated to leverage the latest NVIDIA graphics cards and drivers. The new CUDA-based processing is required for compatibility with newer systems.

Snapshots available directly in the CAD/CAM module

Snapshots captured during scanning are now accessible directly within the CAD/CAM module in the bottom menu alongside scan types and alignments. This allows users to review them quickly during treatment planning without switching modules.

Open mouth view as default for easier case selection

In the Margin, Design, and Mill tabs, the open mouth (clamshell) view is now set as the default. This allows displaying all margins and restorations simultaneously, simplifying the tooth selection. Open mouth view also allows users to switch seamlessly between different teeth or zoom in and out on individual restorations.

13Release653.png

The open mouth view is fully supported for quadrant cases as well.

Greater flexibility with restoration design templates

Selecting a template for the restoration design has been enhanced for both library-based teeth and patient-specific anatomies.

When using a library tooth, users can now define how the restoration is generated directly within the Design Tools menu. This eliminates the need to adjust settings separately and allows users to quickly compare different methods to achieve optimal results. The available options include:

15Release653.png

16Release653.png

Place Tooth which places the tooth from the library as is.

17Release653.png

Autogenesis, which calculates the design based on adjacent teeth.

18Release653.png

Autogenesis Plus, which also takes opposing teeth into account.

The improved Place selection tool enables users to copy an existing restoration design in a mirrored position from the other side of the arch – for example, from tooth 11 to tooth 21. This makes it faster and more efficient to reuse restoration designs when working on multiple restorations, especially on the anterior area.

Margin line editing now possible during restoration design

Margin lines can now be edited directly within the Design tab using the new Move Margin functionality. If the margin is modified, the restoration is automatically regenerated to match the updated margin.

Romexis® Cephalometric Analysis module

A new version of the Romexis® Cephalometric Analysis module includes many improvements and new functionalities, including the following highlights.

New image editor

The module now has a new image editor with focus on tools for easy enhancements and manipulations, such as flip and rotate, negative filter, filter for grey levels and filter for soft tissue visualisation.

19Release653.png

Improved analysis tools

The updated module brings improvements to cephalometric analysis result visualisation, including new shapes, styles and look-and-feel options.

20Release653.png

The module also includes new silhouettes to facilitate precision in structural superimpositions.

21Release653.png

Users can also utilise standardised inter-analysis measurements that allow using linear and angular measurements, such as between points and planes, across multiple analyses in superimposition.

22Release653.png

An automated element rotation tracking through a dedicated Implant Plane tool is also available. Assigning this attribute to a plane enables the automated calculation of rotational changes between analyses in superimposition.

23Release653.png

In addition, photographs aligned with analyses can now be visualised and utilised within superimpositions.

24Release653.png

New reporting tools

A new dynamic reporting interface allows users to create or customise reports on the fly.

25Release653.png

Third-party integrations

Romexis now supports two new integrations to third-party AI service providers. These integrations can be activated in the Admin module.

WeDiagnostix

The AI services of WeDiagnostix analyse panoramic dental X rays using AI and generate a structured diagnostic report highlighting anatomical landmarks, dental conditions, and potential findings.

With the new Romexis integration, Romexis users can now create a button to the 2D imaging module to quick launch the images into WeDiagnostix application.

For more information, contact WeDiagnostix or visit the service website https://wediagnostix.ai/en/automated-dental-x-ray-analysis-with-ai.

26Release653.png

Relu Services

Relu provides AI-based design service of dental models, splints, retainers, and bleaching trays.

With the new integration, Romexis users can create a dedicated button to export patient data (2D, 3D, or CAD/CAM) to their local hard drive. From there, the data can be sent directly to Relu’s order portal, which is automatically launched by Romexis.

For more information, visit Relu website: https://www.relu.ai.

Radiology workflow module for universities

Romexis now also includes a new radiology workflow module designed for the use of dental schools and universities. With this new module, students can create a request for image acquisition (2D and 3D) and submit it for the instructor’s approval before the X-ray image can be captured. The request specifies the required image type and the number of images to be taken.

Once the images have been captured, they can then be evaluated using structured evaluation menus, which include options for both diagnostic and non-diagnostic assessments.

28Release653.png

For image interpretation, findings are submitted by using configurable menus where students can log the tooth site and surface of the finding.

29Release653.png

This radiology workflow module supports safe and standardised learning and helps students develop diagnostic skills and recognise errors. X-ray devices remain locked until the instructor authorises the imaging request with their credentials, guaranteeing no patient can be exposed without teacher approval.

Configurable menus and workflows ensure all students of the faculty follow the same imaging, evaluation, and interpretation steps, enabling consistent teaching outcomes. The faculty staff can configure the workflows in the Admin module.

New version of Romexis Veterinary edition

Romexis® Veterinary is a dedicated version of the Romexis software, tailored to animal anatomy and veterinary workflows. The veterinary edition has now been refreshed with a new look and feel, featuring veterinary-themed icons.

Romexis Veterinary offers the same advanced imaging tools as the standard Romexis platform, making it suitable for viewing and processing both 2D and 3D animal images. In addition, several features have been specifically adapted for veterinary use. In the Patient module, users can record the owner’s name, animal species, and breed. In the 2D module, the dental chart has been modified to accurately reflect animal dentition.

Planmeca mRomexis™ Web

The 6.5.3 release also introduces a new browser-based application for viewing 2D images on local network, Planmeca mRomexis™ Web. The viewer connects to the customer’s Romexis database and allows images to be viewed in a web browser on any computer as long as it has access to the clinic’s Romexis server, for example through a VPN connection.

Like the original Planmeca mRomexis™ tablet application, mRomexis Web provides easy and flexible access to patient images without the need for local software installation, which makes it suitable for image viewing and patient communication.

mRomexis Web supports intraoral images, panoramic images, studies, cephalometric images and photos. It includes basic tools for viewing, such as zooming, pan, adjusting brightness and contrast, as well as annotations and measurements. However, changes and annotations made in the viewer are temporary and will not be saved to Romexis database.
