Planmeca Romexis imaging software

Alternatives to adjusting panoramic images

All Planmeca X-ray units are known for their great usability and high image quality. For optimal images in all situations, the Planmeca Romexis® software also offers several efficient tools for image adjustment and enhancement.

Example 1. “Raw” image.

A normal panoramic image looks like this when it comes to workstation without any additional processing or enhancements.

Planmeca Romexis® has many efficient image adjustment and enhancement tools.

  • Histogram for adjusting levels
  • Contrast slider
  • Brightness slider
  • Sharpening slider
  • Clarify filter for improved image depth and clarity
  • Noise removal
  • Automatic contrast optimiser
  • Invert black to white and white to black
  • Sharpening with more adjustments
  • Virtual soft tissue filter for cephalostat

Example 2. Adjusting levels with the histogram tool and applying some sharpening.

Example 3.The clarity filter improves image depth and contrast. Some sharpening is also done.

Example 4. The new DICE2 (digital image contrast enhancement) processing enhances contrast and makes small differences more visible. Some sharpening is again applied.

When you have found settings that please your eyes and fit your needs, you can save the adjustments as default in the File menu (Save Image Enhancements as Default Enhancements). DICE2 adjustments happen deeper in the system. If you want to test this function, ask your service technician how to switch it on.
