Compatibility and DICOM

The flexible Planmeca Romexis software platform is designed to fulfil the needs of any facility from a small clinic to a large hospital and contains several features facilitating the management of the Planmeca Romexis system:

  • 3-tier client–server software allows for more control over the system and enables advanced data processing such as automatic server side processing.
  • Powerful user and group management with full system audit trail guarantee that patient information is protected.
  • As Java software, Planmeca Romexis can natively run on both Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • Using Java Web Start Planmeca Romexis can be updated to a new version with minimum effort; Simply update the server and all clients will be automatically updated.
  • Image and report data can be exported to other software for further processing. Planmeca Romexis integrates with different systems (for example Dolphin, Simplant Pro, coDiagnostiX), using various interfaces; it conforms to international standards, such as DICOM allowing for full compatibility with other systems and software.

Please note that the listed system requirements are recommendations. Not meeting them may lead to degraded performance. The requirements are also impacted by the scope of the installation environment as well as the number and activity level of users. For further information, contact your local Planmeca distributor.

The disk space requirements are determined by size of stored digital images. Thus the space requirements vary, but a rough estimate is in the order of 9 MB per 2D image, depending on type of image, and between 50 MB to 1 GB per 3D image depending on the volume size and resolution.

It is recommended to use the same server computer as an application server and database server. If Planmeca Romexis® server computer is also used for client activities, the hardware should meet both client and server specifications and for 2D imaging minimum 6 GB RAM should be installed.
