Version 4.2.0.R

3D Superimposition module

The 3D Superimposition module is a new 3D submodule. It allows easy fitting and viewing of two CBCT volumes simultaneously, depicting a before-and-after comparison. Fitting can be done automatically by defining three common points in both volumes, or by manually positioning volumes on top of each other.

  • Visualise and measure anatomical changes between different stages of treatment
  • Compare volumes in an overlay view or synchronised side-by-side
  • Apply different colour mappings and transparency settings to highlight changes in a particular anatomy

The 3D Superimposition module is an excellent tool for various clinical situations that require prolonged diagnostics, such as monitoring sinus and apical conditions or performing before/after comparisons as part of treatment follow-ups.

By combining the module with the Planmeca Ultra Low Dose™ imaging protocol, new clinical uses may become justifiable.

Superimposed volumes can be overlaid or viewed side-by-side in all projections.

3D Tooth Segmentation tool

3D Tooth segmentation tool 3D Tooth segmentation tool is a new feature in the Explorer tab under the Adjust category. It allows easy segmentation of one or more teeth from a CBCT volume using intelligent predictive selection.

  • The tool will automatically assist in the selection of tooth anatomy while preventing overflow to other structures.
  • Each segmented tooth creates a surface model that allows easier observation of tooth positions and root structures
  • Each model can also be moved inside the volume (first disable the lock in the Object Browser’s Segmented tooth section)
  • Each segmented tooth has a tooth number, and can be exported as an STL file for use in 3rd party applications

Planmeca Romexis® Smile Design

Two new tools have been added to the Planmeca Romexis® Smile Design module to allow easy adjusting of tooth shade.

Tooth shade guide

Teeth shades can be selected for all teeth or for one tooth at a time.

  • Teeth shadesChanging the shade of all teeth is done from the vertical toolbar category Teeth Shades
  • By selecting a shade, all the teeth are changed to that shade
  • Available shades are from the VITA Classical shade guide – some bleached shades are available too

Colour picking function to choose tooth shades from photo

Colour picking toolThe colour picking function allows selecting the wanted tooth color from existing teeth. First click the Color picker tool, then on the wanted tooth colour – the silhouette is automatically adjusted to that colour.

CAD/CAM module enhancements

Create a PDF order form to order CAD/CAM work from an outside laboratory

The Create Lab Order function allows users to create a lab order for a selected CAD/CAM case in PDF format. It is a general order form that can be used to describe the needed restoration on top of a tooth (teeth) or an implant(s).

  • Once a lab order has been created, it can be inactivated, viewed as PDF or edited
  • Users can choose to send it over Planmeca Romexis® Cloud in an open STL file format. Users can also export the information only for viewing as 3D model export, for example.

The order form includes basic information of the receiving lab, the patient, and the referring clinic. Restorations can be added to the order manually.

Other CAD/CAM module improvements

CAD/CAM export to 3Shape Dental System™ 2015 in .3oxz format
• Compatible with 3Shape Dental System 2015 software version 15.5.0
• Requires that models are ditched in Planmeca PlanCAD® Easy before export

CAD/CAM module now has two new quick launch buttons
• Planmeca Romexis® 3D Ortho Studio and Planmeca PlanCAD® Premium

Planmeca Romexis® Clinic Management

The design of the Planmeca Romexis® Clinic Management module has been updated to match the look of Planmeca Romexis version 4. Various other improvements have also been included, such as a new floor plan view with more in-depth data available than ever before, as well as enhanced functionalities for managing Planmeca dental units, Planmeca ProMax® 3D X-ray units and Planmeca PlanMill® 40 milling units.
