Planmeca Group’s subsidiary Plandent AB to deliver the largest dental digitalisation project in the Nordic countries

Plandent AB, part of the Finnish Planmeca Group, has signed a contract for the supply of digital intraoral imaging equipment to all municipal dental clinics in Västra Götaland County in Sweden. The delivery agreement is the largest digitalisation project to date within the field of dentistry in the Nordic countries: during the project, the old film-based imaging equipment at the county’s dental clinics will be replaced with the new state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment.
Under the contract, signed February 2009, Plandent AB will supply the county’s 170 dental clinics, including approximately 1,000 surgeries, with software and intraoral X-ray sensors manufactured by Planmeca Oy and image plate scanners manufactured by Dürr Dental AG. This is the largest digitalisation project ever undertaken in the Nordic countries; the contract between Plandent AB and Västra Götaland Regional Council is valued at more than 100 million Swedish crowns. The digitalisation project can span for up to six years.
Planmeca Group already has a proven track record of success with similar projects where publicly-funded dental health care equipment has been updated from film-based to digital. Plandent AB in Sweden, Plandent Oy in Finland, and Norsk Dental Depot in Norway have all successfully completed similar types of digitalisation projects during the recent years.
