Planmeca introduces a new product to the acknowledged Planmeca ProMax® 3D family. The Planmeca ProMax® 3D Plus provides a wide selection of 3D volume sizes in addition to traditional 2D panoramic, extraoral bitewing and cephalometric imaging.

Planmeca ProMax® 3D Plus offers the user a wide variety of volume sizes for applications requiring 3D imaging. The volume sizes range from 34x42 mm to 140x90 mm. This wide selection allows optimising the imaging area according to a specific diagnostic task – always complying with the best practices of dentistry and the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle to minimise radiation.

The new unit also offers a unique combination of three types of 3D data. The user can acquire a patient CBCT image, 3D face photo and 3D model scan (impression or plaster cast scan), which are combined in one software suite. A virtual patient is created for different clinical needs. Planmeca is the first to introduce this type of a concept, available for all Planmeca’s 3D units.

Additionally, Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus introduces a new kind of panoramic imaging. The standard panoramic imaging program is optimised to expose only the tooth area, which reduces patient dose. Optionally, the temporomandibular joints can be captured with a program in which the TMJ imaging angles are adjusted like in regular TMJ programs. As a true all-in-one unit, Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus also offers cephalometric imaging either with a scanning or one-shot type cephalostat.

“Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus clearly demonstrates our best practices in imaging. It provides advanced visualisation of the patient’s anatomy for a variety of diagnostics needs – never compromising the important principle of minimising the radiation dose when feasible,” says Mr Timo Müller, Vice President of X-ray Division at Planmeca Oy.

Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus is based on the Planmeca ProMax 3D technology. The other products in Planmeca’s 3D family are Planmeca ProMax® 3D s, ideal for applications where a smaller field of view is sufficient, Planmeca ProMax® 3D Classic for general 3D applications with a field size covering the mandible and maxilla, Planmeca ProMax® 3D Mid with the widest range of imaging possibilities and Planmeca ProMax® 3D Max including a variety of field sizes from a single tooth to the whole maxillofacial area.
